Frequently Asked Questions!
FAQ# 7. How are nursery services handled at CFC?
The Nursery program is administered by Mandy Sutton.
- Each term of service for volunteers is six months. There are two terms per year: January through June, and July through December. During early June and early December we put out a call for volunteers for the next term.
- The volunteers may choose which nursery in which they desire to work.
- There is a separate schedule for each nursery. Depending on the number of volunteers, they may work three or four Sundays per term.
- There are two people scheduled for each nursery each Sunday.
- One toddler volunteer is to arrive in time for Sunday school and stays in the toddler nursery. This volunteer also keeps any infants that may arrive for the Sunday School hour. They are requested to arrive at 9:15 a.m.
- The other nursery workers are to be there at 10:20 for the regular service time.
- Workers who desire to switch duty days are to make these arrangements themselves, and to inform Lisa of the change.
- Child info sheets are kept on the regular nursery attendees.
Christ’s Fellowship Church Infant’s Nursery Policy:
- Ages for infant’s nursery are birth through 15 months or until they are proficient walkers.
- Children with contagious illnesses will not be accepted in the nursery:
- This includes children with a fever.
- We understand that children have occasional “sniffles” with allergy or teething.
- Diaper bags, bottles and other accessories must be labeled with the child’s name.
- There will be a system to sign the babies in and out of the nursery.
- The parent will be given a security tag with the child’s name on it.
- The tag must be returned when picking up the child. Visitors will also receive a tag.
- Parents are welcome to come and sit in the nursery with their babies. Nursing moms are also welcome.
Christ’s Fellowship Church Toddler Nursery Policy:
- We will care for the children in the nursery as if they were our own.
- Ages for the toddler nursery are 18 months through 3 years old.
- Two volunteers will be scheduled in the nursery during regular Sunday Church service. At least one volunteer will be in the nursery during Sunday School hour until there are 4 or more children on a regular basis.
- The minimum age for helpers in the nursery working with adults will be 12 years of age. All other children must either attend children’s activities or stay with their parents.
- Children will be taught about Jesus and exposed to the Gospel while they are under our care.
- This will be in the form of listening to Christian music, hearing Christian stories or watching Christian videos.
- Reasonably healthy snacks will normally be provided during Sunday School and worship. These snacks include:
- Water
- Crackers
- Pretzels
- Cheerios, etc.
- We will NEVER spank a child! To contain a minor misbehavior, a child may need to sit for a few minutes in time-out.
- Disruptive behavior that endangers other children or otherwise detracts from the overall nursery environment will result in the parents being given charge of their child for the remainder of Sunday School or Worship Service.
- Repeated disobedience toward the adults in the nursery will be handled as disruptive behavior. Returning the child to his/her parent is the best method to deal with repeated rule infractions.
- Children with contagious illness will not be accepted in the nursery. This includes children with fevers. We understand that children with occasional sniffles or with allergy or teething problems are exceptions to this rule.
- Each family with children in the nursery will be asked to sign a copy of this policy for our file. Visitors can receive a copy for their information. If they become regular attenders or members, they will be asked to sign a copy. This will assure us that they have read and understand the CFC nursery policy and procedure.
